205. On October, 1916, I complete a painting for Zen Master Genjō. After one day, I look at all the pictures on the walls and excitement suddenly stirs. Next, I pull out my brush and paint a small pine atop two or three stones for Zen Master Keidō. I do not know whether or not the Zen Master will accept my gift. (November 1, 1916)

You lie in one round center,

I paint pines below stones.

Do not say I have not found Zen;

I was once a mountain forest traveler.
