148. Untitled (August 30, 1916)

Untitled (August 30, 1916)

Passage through worldliness easily induces grief,

The inner heart wants to open but it is not free.

Who said writing literature is a task for all eternity?

I once thought simplicity to be my life’s ambition.

With little talent oftentimes I strode new frontiers;

Enlightened, when will I lie on hometown hills?

Yesterday in the tranquil courtyard the wind and rain were harsh,

Above the plantain leaves, I see autumn has arrived again.
