無題(大正五年十月十五日)

吾面難親向鏡親

吾心不見獨嗟貧

明朝市上屠牛客

今日山中觀道人

行盡邐迤天始闊

踏殘峆崉地猶新

縱橫曲折高還下

総是虛無総是眞

Untitled (October 15, 1916)

I cannot bear my face, but I make friends with the mirror;

I cannot see my heart, alone I bemoan the ascetic life.

Tomorrow morning in the market, the butcher of oxen;

Today in the mountains, the man meditating the Dao.

Walking to the end of the winding path, for the first time the sky is vast;

Nearing my last steps on rugged mountains, the earth still feels new.

Twists and turns in every direction, up high and down low;

All is emptiness, all is true.
