山居日日恰相同

出入無時西復東

的皪梅花濃淡外

朦朧月色有無中

人從屋後過橋去

水到蹊頭穿竹通

最喜清宵燈一點

孤愁夢鶴在春空

Untitled (September 13, 1916)

In mountain reclusion one day is very like the next;

I can come and go at any time, whether east or west.

The brilliant white of plum blossoms, beyond tonal contrasts;

The gauzy haze dims the moon in and out of view.

From behind the house a man goes across the bridge;

Water flows to the footpath, passes through bamboo.

I most enjoy the clear night with one lamp burning;

In lone sorrow I dream of a crane in the spring sky.
