169. Untitled (September 19, 1916)

Untitled (September 19, 1916)

Cut off from poetic thought—you shall not mind;

Good poems are eternally fixed in my gaze.

A lone cloud without a trace, one sail disappears;

Lingering rain leaves a spot, half the chair is wet.

Letting the flowers’ light make visible the distant trees,

I do not let the willows’ dark enter the thin screen.

The years of wondrous tastes and voiceless verses,

By way of the spring breeze, are added to nature’s embroidery.
